A platform hatch is a closable opening in a scaffold deck that may form part of the assessed access between levels.
What does this mean for your project?
The hatch is not an arbitrary opening for moving materials. Its function follows from the selected access arrangement and accompanying use information. Someone needing a different handling method should raise that requirement rather than informally repurpose the opening for another activity.
Where movement between levels is frequent, explain the complete access requirement beforehand. Users, tools and work sequence help identify the provision that deserves discussion. A platform hatch and an access staircase are not automatically interchangeable simply because both connect different levels.
