A standard is an upright scaffold component that transfers loads through the structure towards its supporting base.
What does this mean for your project?
Standards work together with horizontal members and braces to form the arrangement. Their positions influence both the workplace above and the space below. An upright obstructing a doorway is therefore not simply a movable obstacle that a user can relocate.
During preparation, identify entrances, basement openings and other restrictions around the proposed footprint. This allows the provider to assess an appropriate layout. The customer does not need to calculate the number of uprights or select distances between structural members.
Changing a standard may affect several connected parts. If it obstructs the task, describe the movement or activity that needs resolving and request assessment. Loosening, raising or shifting an upright is not an ordinary action for someone using the scaffold.

Is every vertical tube a standard?
Its role depends on the arrangement, not merely its orientation. Ask the provider to explain the current drawing where the function is unclear.
Can an upright blocking a door be removed?
Do not remove it yourself. Have the entrance requirement and the structural arrangement assessed together by the responsible scaffold provider.
